Captain John Kuhn posing in uniform in front of Bixby Fire TruckCaptain Jon Kuhn has spent the last 8 years as Captain with the Bixby Fire Department. Dedicating over 20 years of his life to the fire service, Captain Kuhn brings an elite level of professionalism and excellence to the department.

Captain Kuhn has certifications in Firefighter 1 & 2, EMT, Instructor 1, Officer 1, CLEET (Council on Law Enforcement & Training), Arson Investigation, Swift Water Rescue, Rope Rescue Technician and Hazardous Materials Operations.

Captain Kuhn began working as a dispatcher for the Bixby Police Department when he was a senior in high school. Working closely with fire and police as a dispatcher gave him insight to the life of a firefighter that inspired him to make it his career choice. He knew that giving his life to the fire service and helping others was what he was meant to do.

He and his wife Jenny have been married for 19 years, both spending their entire lives here in the Bixby and Glenpool communities. They have a daughter, Tyler and a son Jace. Jon and Jenny own a sign company called “Spartan Signs” and an AED (Automatic Defibrillator) company that they operate when He’s not on duty. Away from the fire station Jon loves spending time with his family at the lake, trail riding and farming.

Captain Kuhn’s dedication to helping and educating others in the public as well as within the department has made him an invaluable member of the Bixby Fire Department as well as the Bixby community. His enthusiasm and brand of leadership inspires those around him and make them better at what they do. We are proud to put the spotlight on Captain Jon Kuhn, C-Shift Captain at Station 2.
