The City of Bixby has a new Fire Chief in town! However, he may look familiar to many. Chief Joey Wiedel has been a member of the Bixby Fire Department since March of 2004. Prior to working with the Bixby Fire Department, Joey was a Volunteer Firefighter for the Haskell Fire Department from 2001 to 2004. After eight years of service with the Bixby Fire Department, Joe received a promotion to Fire Marshal in March of 2012. On March 3, 2019, he was promoted to Fire Chief replacing Chief Bryan Wood upon his retirement. Chief Wiedel has obtained multiple certifications during his public safety career. He is a certified Fire Inspector and Investigator. He sits on multiple state level executive boards and committees. He is Chair of Community Risk Reduction at the Oklahoma State Fire Association and Second Vice President for the Fire Marshal’s Association of Oklahoma. He is also an Oklahoma State Fire Service Training Instructor.
