Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

Community Emergency Response Team LogoResponsibilities

The Bixby Police Department is accepting applications for their Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). The CERT program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, search and rescue, disaster psychology, and response team organization. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an emergency event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members are also encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their communities.

For more information, contact CERT Program Manager Cpl. Michael Konshak, at (918) 366-0451 or by clicking here.

Those interested in becoming involved in the Bixby P.D. CERT  should Read CERT-Basic Training-2012 & Oklahoma Volunteer Handbook.
